Wayne John Kertz, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the people he loved on May 11, 2026.

Wayne was born on February 10, 1953, in Bloomsdale, Missouri, to Donald and Bernadine Kertz. He graduated from Saint Genevieve High School in 1971. On November 12, 1971, he married the love of his life, LeeAnn, beginning a marriage filled with love, laughter, family, and adventure.

Together they raised three children: David (Timaly) Kertz, Deanna (Justin) Case, and Michael (Heather) Kertz. Wayne was a proud grandfather to Brian, Cory, Kiley, (Tim) Dawson, (Mckinzee),Tysan, Brendon, Morgan, Hunter, Mark, and Tyson, and an adopted grandson, Celton. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.

Wayne worked at several places in Missouri before being hired at FMC in 1975. He proudly worked there for 38 years before retiring. He truly loved being a miner and built lifelong friendships with the many people he worked alongside over the years.

Wayne had a lifelong passion for art that began in childhood and stayed with him throughout his life. He was talented in nearly every form of art he tried, including painting, woodcarving, clay sculpture, ink drawing, and woodburning. He participated in many art shows and competitions, earning numerous ribbons and awards. Although he sold some of his work, he found even greater joy in giving his creations away as gifts to family and friends.

He loved spending time with his buddies, especially his best friend Brad at the golf course. Wayne and LeeAnn enjoyed traveling together and proudly said they had visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii. Along the way, they never passed up the chance to stop and play slot machines whenever they could.

Wayne was the middle child of eleven children and is survived by his brothers Bob, Kenny, and Carl; his sisters Mary, Elaine, Donna, Lisa, and Anita; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bernadine Kertz; his brothers Gary and Randy; and his granddaughter, Stacie Rena.

Wayne will be remembered for his creativity, sense of humor, generosity, friendships, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
