On May 18th, Wanda Rogers, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 63, from colon cancer. Wanda was born in Provo, Utah to Billie and Jack Woods. She married Rick Rogers on June 11, 1977 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Rick and Wanda have six children and raised them in Evanston, WY where they enjoyed white water rafting, hiking, and cross-country skiing. Later in life, Rick and Wanda enjoyed horseback riding, hiking, camping and spending time at Ruth Lake. Wanda loved being a grandmother to her 22 grandchildren, traveling to support them in their various activities, and creating lasting memories with granddaughter weekends and grandson adventures.
Wanda was a visionary for creating opportunities for people with disabilities. She co-developed and directed Disability: IN Uinta County for 26 years. She assisted businesses in hiring, retaining, and promoting the employment of people with disabilities through education and training. Wanda also established NexGen Leaders which provides mentoring opportunities for at-risk high school students and those with disabilities.
Wanda is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has had a strong faith and testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ all her life. Wanda leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and service. She is survived by her husband Rick Rogers; 6 children, Casey Rogers (Natasha), Amanda Bird (Cameron), Natalie Smith (Brandon), Stacie Smith (McKay), Colton Rogers (Kendall), Alyse Rogers and 22 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Emma LaPreal Bird. Open House May 26th at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston 6-8 pm, Open House May 27th at 201 Sage Street Chapel 9:30 -10:45 am, Celebration of Life at 11:00. All are welcome.
