Tonia Hoisington Zinninger was born on April 19, 1947, and peacefully passed away on October 6, 2025 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Evanston, Wyoming.
The story of Tonia's arrival into this world was as remarkable and unique as the life she would go on to live. Her mother was living in an apartment above a pizza shop when the time came for her birth. With no one available to take her to the hospital, her mother went downstairs and found the pizza delivery boy, who happened to have a motorcycle. He kindly gave her a ride to the hospital-his name was Tony. In his honor, Tonia was given her name, a lasting reminder of that unexpected act of kindness.
Tonia's journey was not an easy one. She faced many struggles, troubles, and trials, both physical and emotional, yet she always faced them with courage, faith, and an unshakable spirit. Once, while stopping for gas with her disabled young son in the back seat, two carjackers tried to steal her car. But Tonia wasn't one to back down. With a mix of bravery and spunk, she fought them off and kept her child safe. That moment captured who she was-determined, strong and never willing to give up.
Tonia cared deeply for others and had a heart full of compassion. After her baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she became a devoted covenant keeper and lived her life with devotion to God. She longed to serve in the church and prayed for opportunities to minister to others. Her heart was always ready and she was willing to give her time and her love wherever the Lord needed her. Her faith guided her through life's challenges and filled her days with purpose and light. She spread kindness even when her own burdens were heavy.
Now, Tonia has gone home-a faithful daughter of God, reunited with her dear son, John, and surrounded by the love of her Heavenly Father and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is finally at rest. Though her earthly presence will be deeply missed, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her-a gentle reminder of faith's quiet strength and love's eternal reach.
