Tom passed away and joined our Heavenly Father on February 2, 2024. Tom was born in Modesto, California on April 11, 1940, to Harry Fairless and Etta Holcomb, Tom is the youngest of 8 children. Tom graduated from Butte Valley High and OIT college. Tom also served in the Navy and was stationed in Treasure Island, San Francisco, Cubi Point, and the Philippines. Tom had a brilliant mind and worked for IBM as a support specialist and was able to travel the world. Tom settled in Canby, Oregon with his grit and strong work ethic bought and worked his 100 acre farm, 88 acres of the land were hazelnuts, Christmas trees, horses, ducks, frogs. and other wildlife. Tom worked the farm and IBM side by side for many years.
Tom married the love of his life Starla Volges on March 2, 1982. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in August 1992. Tom faithfully served as a counselor of the Bishopric for many years, he loved the gospel. Tom loved his family, fishing, hunting, and any hunting shows he could find. He proudly displayed many elk, deer, and ram heads as soon as you walked into the home.
Tom loved spending time with his wife and family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom is preceded in death by his father Harry Fairless, mother Etta Holcomb, sisters: Mayda Hill, Micky Holder, Laura Hereford, Edna Wild, brother Alfred Fairless, and granddaughter Brennah Steele.
Survived by his loving wife Starla, children Peggy Burks (Norm), Tom Fairless Jr., Debbie Tresner (David), David Steele, Denice Steele, and Dennis Steele (DeAnn), sister Edith Green, brother Ben Fairless, nephews Steve and Billy Hereford, and niece Kathy Bunyard.
Grandchildren: Charity McOmie (Dan) , Karl (Ashley) Tresner, Crystal Behunin (Donovan), Chantel Grossnickle, Kyleigh (Curtis) Anderson, Scott Steele, Brooke (Ryan) Shelton, Alexa and McKenna.
Great grandchildren: Connor, Trey, Hayden, Harper, Adalyn, Lilly, Aria, Lucy and 2 more on their way.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm with the viewing from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm at the LDS chapel 7337 South Grizzly Way (5150 W) West Jordan, Utah 84081
Graveside service held on February 10, 2024,11:00 am at the Evanston City Cemetery, 516 Country RD. Evanston, WY 82930
