Steven L. Ruiz, 79, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at Evanston Regional Hospital in Evanston, Wyoming.
Born in 1947 in Los Angeles, California, to Louis and Lenora Ruiz, Steven lived a full life centered around hard work, laughter, music, and family.
Steven proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran. After returning home, he attended Weber State College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Automotive Engineering. He later worked for Kennecott Copper and Chevron, working hard to provide for his family.
Steven was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man who truly enjoyed life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth; his five sons, Rodney (Kristina), David (Tammy), Vincent (Shondra), Anthony (Tabitha), and Travis (Windi); eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Steven was the oldest of seven siblings: Daniel, Deborah, Terry, Ronnie, Jacqueline, Paul, and Jackie.
Dad was truly one of a kind. He always had a joke ready, a story to tell, or something funny to make you smile. His humor and fun-loving personality made family gatherings special.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, and raising animals, including chickens, turkeys, pigs, and cows. He enjoyed country life and the simple things that made him happy.
If there was a guitar nearby, Dad would often pick it up and sing, especially his favorite, "Johnny B. Goode." Those moments of music, laughter, and family will remain some of our most treasured memories.
Dad taught us to work hard, enjoy life, laugh often, and cherish the time we have with the people we love.
We are grateful for every story, joke, song, laugh, and moment we shared with him.
Dad, you will be missed more than words can express. Your laughter, music, stories, and love will live on through all of us.
We love you, Dad. Rest peacefully. Until we meet again.
