Shirley Walker

Shirley Walker passed away April 26, 2025 peacefully at her daughters home in Evanston, Wyoming.

She was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 29, 1942 to Gerald and Loretta Vincent. She married her husband Robert (Bob) Walker on July 17, 1965 in Owosso, MI. They later had three children, Donald, Dawn and Dennis.

They lived in Ovid, MI until 1981.

The family moved to Evanston in 1981 to take care of her mother-in-law. Shirley came to Evanston in March of 2025 to spend time with her daughter.

Shirley worked at the Wyoming State Hospital in the early 1980's. She later worked at Uinta County School District #1 as a custodian. She also worked at the Weston Lamplighter and the Budget Motel with her sister-in-law.

After retiring from the school district, she worked part time at the Uinta Senior Center as a senior companion.

Shirley moved to Texas in September 2017 to be closer to her grandchildren and great grandkids. She loved to be around her family and friends. She was a sweet easy going lady you could ever meet. She would help or do anything she could for you.

She enjoyed talking to family and friends on the phone and enjoyed many family vacations. We always had fun when Mom and Grandma (AKA Gma) was around.

She would listen to music and spend time with her grandchildren when she could.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Dawn Walker Cantu of Evanston, WY; son, Dennis (Katie) Walker of Humble, TX; grandkids, Laci (Scott) Prato of Caddo Mills, TX and Zack (Angela) Walker of Porter, TX; great grandkids, Hannah, Hayden and Tyler Prato & Rylan and Brayden Walker.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Walker, her parents, Gerald & Loretta Vincent; her sisters Jean Durham and Grace Kares; brothers Kenneth Vincent and Earl Vincent; son-in-law Jonathan Cantu and son Donald Walker.

Shirley will be greatly missed as she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife.
