Sharen Ann Denney Simmons passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 17th, 2026. She was 83.
Sharen was born to Marlin F. Denney and Edith (Rawlings) Denney on July 23, 1943. She married the love of her life, Jack Simmons, on June 20, 1963, in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend had struggled with health and happiness since the passing of her husband, Jack in 2016, whom she had taken care of for nearly eight years after a debilitating stroke, and before his passing.
Many of Grandma’s family members were able to visit with her during the last few days of her life, while she was still able to enjoy their company.
Sharen and Jack traveled extensively before his stroke, visiting more than 32 states and 14 countries including Russia, the birth-country of some of their grandchildren. They served an LDS mission together in British Columbia Canada in 2001-2002.
Sharen was raised in Riverton, Utah. She and Jack raised their six children in West Jordan. They moved to Hemlock, Michigan in 1995 and spent ten years there until retiring back to Utah. Jack and Sharen built a yard care business that they maintained for over twenty years, until their next venture. They were proud of the business they built with their sons during their last working years.
Sharen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, by her parents, Marlin and Edith (Rawlings) Denney, her brother James (Susan), and one of her sons, Rodney Simmons (April). She is survived by her children, John (Amy), Tom (Michelle), Shirree Kimball (Charlie), David (Rachael), Careen Lancaster (Kevin), a sister, Nancy, a brother, Howard (Cathie), along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 10:00 to 10:45, at Crandall Funeral Home in Kamas, graveside service will follow at 11:00 at the Marion Cemetery.
