Shane Gines was born Oct 5, 1972 in American Fork, UT in the early morning hours to Vickie Gines. His mom states that Shane was the most beautiful baby born, with big dark eyes. He and his mom lived with his grandparents Daniel and Marva Gines. Shane attributes his desire to give freely and help those in need to his Grandma Marva. She took him on walks to temple square and ensured that he was raised with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in his life. Uncle Jay and Uncle Duane were father figures to Shane and he always spoke of them with the highest level of respect and love. When he was 10 years old his mom married and they moved to Lyman, WY where he instantly became a big brother to Kurt, Kraig and Shawn Gates. Overtime brothers Chris and Nick joined the family. Several years later, Vickie remarried to Greg Skala and he gained a sister, Veronica Skala. He also had a sister, Jessica, through his father Larry Giles.
Shane graduated in 1990 from Lyman High School and had many adventures, including hiking the Inca Trail in Peru with his Uncle Duane and working for a season on a fishing boat in the Bearing Sea off Alaska. He learned how to work concrete for several years and eventually started working at General Chemical where he worked for 15 years before going to Solvay where he finished his 15th year in January as an Industrial Mechanic. Shane loved the outdoors, as a child he played endlessly outdoors with his cousins, climbing trees and playing in the creek by his house. As an adult he loved to go hiking and camping in the Uintas. He loved building the perfect campsite with tarps and tables. He loved to hunt, and most of all, watch the stars in the sky at night.
Shane married Kristie Pennington on April 11, 1998, together they had children: Trysten, Hunter and Alexys Gines. After their divorce, Shane met the love of his life and soul mate, Christine. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on November 13, 2013 and Shane inherited two more children, Jessica and Ryan. Their family has grown to now include son-in-law Darby, daughter-in-law Kitrena and grandchildren, Carson, Rylie, Keaton, Declan, Casey and Kightley. Shane and Christine took a week off every summer to have “grandkids week”. Shane loved his family more than anything and always wanted to provide and protect them.
Shane is survived by his wife, Christine Gines, children: Trysen Gines, Hunter Gines, Alexys Gines, Jessica (Darby) Reardon, and Ryan (Kitrena) Thornton. His mother Vickie (Gregory) Skala, his father Larry Giles. Siblings: Chris Gates, Nick (Brian) Gates, Veronica Skala, Kurt Gates, Kraig Gates, and Shawn Gates. Brothers and sisters-in-laws; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Daniel and Marva Gines, Verdell and Larena Giles. Brother, Adam Gates. Aunts: Dixie Colledge, Sandy Gines. Uncle Kent “Kenny” Gines, and three cousins.
