Sandra Gaye Sutherland Hayes, 81, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, neighbor, and friend, passed away January 6, 2026, peacefully in her sleep with the love of her life of 32 years close by.
She was born on March 17, 1944 to Wesley Lesley Voth & Georgia Ernestine (Yoakley) Voth.
Sandy grew up in Colorado. Sandy excelled in Spanish. She served in the Peace Corps in South America. She taught at South Summit for 28 years before retiring.
Sandy was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 25, 1969. The gospel meant a great deal to Sandy, and she did a lot of temple work for her family.
She loved to travel and experienced many trips to various parts of the world.
She is survived by her dear husband, Chip; her stepson, Christian Hayes; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; her brother, Paul Voth; and dear family neighbors, Weston and Sheri Frazier, and their boys, MJ and Parker Lewis.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, a brother, a sister, her first husband (Larry Sutherland), a daughter, and a granddaughter.
Thank you to all the Heber Valley Assisted Living staff who truly loved and cared for Sandy. A very special Thanks to Audrey Stembridge for her continued love, support, and care.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 9th, from 9am-11am. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9th at 11:30 am at the Kamas Stake Center 3038 N SR 32, Marion, Utah. Interment will follow in the Marion Cemetery.
