Ryan Spencer Swensen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ryan Spencer Swensen, our incredible son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. He passed from our presence on Friday, July 31, 2026 in Evanston, Wyoming.

Ryan was an amazing example of a kind and generous human being. He was always willing to step in and help anyone in need, his willingness to put his arm around others knew no boundaries.

Ryan is the first born to Cory and Holly and came into this world on December 26, 2005. The best belated Christmas gift we could ever receive. He brought an immense amount of joy and laughter to our lives, and was such a sweet, loving, mischievous, and adventurous boy who always carried the brightest smile on his face.

Ryan was an awesome brother to his 4 younger sisters and his step siblings. They were each other’s best friend. He was all the things a brother should be, very loyal and protective. He would even take one for the team and sit through a couple hours of playing with dolls, or dress-ups for his sisters but also had a way of recruiting them into enjoying a good Nerf gun war, Lego’s or video games. Ryan comes from a big family and loved when we would all gather together. He loved spending time with the “fellas” because he was a little outnumbered at home. We hope that you never forget, that he loved every single one of you very much.

For as long as we can remember Ryan has been interested in mechanics, he liked to work on cars, trucks, dirt bikes…anything with wheels or moving parts and spent many hours down at the River Walk with his buddies discussing all the things they could do to enhance their trucks. He had a passion for taking things apart, always adding something bigger and better and putting it back together again. He also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, or simply learning new ways to smoke meat or try a new recipe with his dad or uncles. He enjoyed sports, particularly football and joined in on these activities throughout his school years. He never passed up an opportunity to attend a Jazz game, BYU or Utah football game, or to simply cheer on the Evanston Red Devils from the rowdy student section.

After High School he joined the work force, he spent the summer working with the City of Evanston maintenance crew, we could tell that he loved this job because every single day after work he had a funny story or two to tell about that day, already laughing before he could even speak. He always talked about the great group of people he worked with there and missed that association when he left. He then took a job working for UTLX, where he picked up several new skills that he was excited about. Ryan was a hard worker, rarely took time off and offered to put in the extra hours when it was needed. He enjoyed his time there and was proud of the work he did. He considered all of his co-workers his friends.

Ryan is survived by his mom Holly, dad Cory and step mom Bobbi, 4 sisters, 2 step sisters, and a step brother. Allison, Sarah, Emily, Carlyn, Lyndsee, Brandon, and Mekenzie.

Words cannot begin to express what you mean to us Ry, you are fiercely loved and will be missed beyond measure. We know that every time we see a picture or have a memory of you, it will make us smile. You are such a bright light that will shine on us forever. Save us a place buddy…we look forward to the time when we will see you again. We love you the mostest and we got you last.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's, Elm Street Chapel, 251 Elm Street.  Viewing will be prior to services from 9:00 to 10:45.  Interment will be in the Evanston City Cemetery.
