Rufus Thomas Spann, Sr. (Tom), age 83, passed away peacefully in his home on November 13, 2025. Born on August 27, 1942, Tom lived a life marked by hard work, simple pleasures, and a large boisterous family.
He is survived by his children R.T. Spann Jr., Tim Spann, Fawn Spann, Byrne Spann, and Nancey Lawes (Jason), and by his beloved stepchildren Cory Dutra and Kellie Dutra. Tom also leaves behind a large and cherished legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, a daughter Jeanna, son Warren, step-daughter Michelle, and step-daughter Reeda. Though his family circle saw its share of loss, Tom carried each memory with quiet strength and love.
Known for his humble, uncomplicated way of living, Tom found happiness in the small things-a strong cup of coffee, a sweet treat, an easy conversation. With his long blond hair and uncanny resemblance to Wild Bill, he was a memorable sight, and his presence brought nostalgia to every room he entered.
Tom always enjoyed a spirited conversation with family or friends, especially during bowling nights filled with lively competition and laughter. He lived his life without pretense, guided by the steady rhythm of the simple moments he held dear.
He will be remembered for his grit, his humor, and his old country ways. His spirit lives on in the generations that follow him, and in the countless stories that will continue to be told.
May he rest in peace.
