Rex Alan Winkler, age 62, of Lyman, Wyoming, passed away on December 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Rex was born on May 13, 1963, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Richard Erwin Winkler Sr. and Thelma Charlene Winkler.
Rex spent his life devoted to his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, was honorably discharged, and was extremely proud of his time in the service. During his service, he spent one year stationed in Korea and three years in Washington State, where he met and married the love of his life.
He was a devoted and loving husband, a caring father, and an amazing grandfather. Rex deeply loved his wife, Debbie, and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was known for his kindness and generosity and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Rex enjoyed the outdoors and creative pursuits, including hunting, fishing, camping, geocaching, woodworking, and epoxy crafting.
Rex is survived by his wife, Debbie Winkler; his children, TaBitha Haslett (Craig), Tiffanie Shassetz (Travis), and Jacob Winkler; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Robert Winkler, Richard Erwin Winkler II, Rose Ellen Clark, and Patricia Burchett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Erwin Winkler Sr. and Thelma Charlene Winkler.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lyman LDS Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lyman LDS Church.
He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his love of family, his honorable service to his country, and the many memories shared with him.
He will be deeply missed by his family and loved ones.
