Ray Siddoway Broadbent, 87, passed away on April 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, JR and Lorna Broadbent, and by his wife, Susan Moss Broadbent, the beloved mother of his children.
He is survived by his children: Joseph Lawrence Broadbent (Anna), Emily Jane Dennis (Justin), and Jennifer Sue Bennett (David). He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Joseph Siddoway Broadbent, and is also survived by his younger sister, Colleen Paddock (Tom). He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and step-grandchildren. All of whom he loved and enjoyed.
Ray graduated from Huntington Park High School in Los Angeles, CA, in 1956. He faithfully served a two-and-a-half-year mission in the Spanish-American Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended the University of Utah, Utah State University, and Brigham Young University. He received degrees in Animal Husbandry and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Prior to becoming a full-time rancher, he worked in banking for 10 years. He then devoted his life to the family ranch, working alongside his father and brother. Together, he and Joe ran Broadbent Brothers Livestock in the Imperial Valley, CA, where he raised his family.
Ray will be remembered for his lifelong service and for his loving, kind, and charitable nature. He had a deep love for ranching, but above all, he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. Together with his devoted wife, Carole Anne Hickenlooper Broadbent, he served two temple missions. He also served as a temple worker for more than 30 years in the San Diego and Ogden temples. He held many church callings, but his greatest passion was genealogy work and performing thousands of ordinances for his ancestors and loved ones who had passed on before him. He was the ultimate missionary, always willing and eager to share his testimony of Jesus Christ with everyone he encountered. He left a legacy of faith, hard work, a love of country, and a love of family. He was loved by all who knew him. He was known for the mischievous twinkle in his eye, a playful sense of humor, and an infectious smile that could brighten any room he entered.
