Randy Eugene Robinson

November 14, 1951 — June 13, 2026

Oakley

Randy Eugene Robinson completed his mortal journey on Saturday, June 13, 2026, succumbing to the devastating effects of Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinsonism, and Rheumatoid arthritis.

He was born November 14, 1951 to Lois (Epperson) and Eugene Robinson in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Randy was a proud recipient of the Eagle Scout award on October 14, 1966. He loved the mountains and all their critters. Often feeding them straight from his hand. This led to his place of solace, a cabin he built with his own hands. When not outside, he was watching and participating in sports.

Randy graduated from Olympus High School in 1970. He received a scholarship and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Engineering.

Randy was very patriotic. His love for his country led him to serve in the Utah National Guard, during the Vietnam war, being honorably discharged on August 17, 1978.

Randy served for two years with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Andes-Peru Mission. He loved the people of Peru and throughout the years enjoyed visiting with Spanish-speaking people in their native language. Returning home he continued to serve the church in various callings including on two high councils, a beloved bishop and most of his adult years as a temple ordinance worker.

Randy had a brilliant mind in diverse subjects. His engineering experiences took him from underground mining engineering in New Mexico, to the skies of aerospace engineering, retiring from the Department of Defense after many years of faithful service with several awards.

Because of his love for the Savior and His gospel, he devoted himself to studying deep gospel subjects for those precious truths that strengthened his faith and testimony. He was never one that enjoyed ‘chitchat’, but relished in the opportunities to converse about meaningful subjects that could lift others higher in their understanding of the gospel and the world we live in.

Even though at the end of his life his brilliant mind forgot many things, he never forgot his family, nor had he lost his gospel knowledge and the Spanish language.

He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Often saying that they were his “everything”. Playing games, telling “Laughy Taffy” jokes, and sharing his passion for the gospel are all things his family will remember.

Randy married his eternal companion, Shelley Meyer, in the Salt Lake Temple in 1979. He leaves a legacy of seven children: Emily (Chris) Caldwell, Adam (Shonda), Michelle (David) Humes, Tamani (Kendal) Henderson, Joseph (Amanda), Ryan (Rachel), and Cristina along with 21 grandchildren: AnaLea, Connor, Porter, Jason, Bree, Kaitlyn, Millie, Dustin, Bradyn, Hailee, Kyle, Chloe, Logan, Kamrie, Landon, Kooper, Kennedy, Luke, Sam, Poppy, and Brooklyn. He is also survived by his siblings: Brent (Shannon), Lynn (Amanda), Mary Woolley, Robert (Sharon), and Evan (Kim), his aunt Mary Ann Alo and the many Robinson, Winward, Epperson cousins and many nieces and nephews that he loves, along with his sister and brother-in-law Suzanne and David Hahn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a nephew along with his mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.

The family is overwhelmingly grateful for the Oakley 2nd Ward, friends, and neighbors, and the incredible and compassionate care from the Enhabit Hospice team – especially Deana, Denise, Jacque, and Ann. We never felt alone in this journey.
