Paul Eugene VanDreew

Nov 6, 1962 — Sep 28, 2026

Evanston, WY

Paul Eugene VanDreew passed away unexpectedly at home in Evanston, Wyoming, on September 28, 2026. He was born on November 6, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Paul lived with a deep enthusiasm for life and brought warmth wherever he went. He was known as a bright light in every room he entered, and his sense of humor and energy were cherished by family and friends alike. He loved to talk with everyone about anything, and his kindness toward others was constant, no matter the situation. Paul had a gift for making quick connections, often meeting someone and immediately giving them a nickname, whether they wanted one or not. That playful spirit was especially felt within his own family, where his children were fondly known as Moose, the Great one, Sheep, Sunshine, and Mattman. He also carried a special love for Christmas throughout the year, delighting his family by playing Christmas music not only in December, but just as easily in the middle of July.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in Fairfield, California, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in political science/public administration from Utah State University. It was while attending Utah State University that he met the love of his life, Rebecca. They were married on August 23, 1988, in the Logan Temple, beginning a marriage and family life that remained central to Paul’s world.

Throughout his working life, Paul served in several roles, including insurance agent, bank manager and financial services professional, and as a professional for the Boy Scouts of America. In each setting, he brought the same outgoing nature, humor, and ability to connect with people that so clearly defined him.

Above all, Paul will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca VanDreew; his children, Jessica Jackson and her husband Dallin, Timothy VanDreew and his wife Sabrina, Benjamin VanDreew, Cassidy VanDreew, and Matthew VanDreew; and his grandchildren, Liam and Reagan Jackson. He is also survived by his mother, Reta VanWeerd; his sisters, Kathy Campbell and Alicia Low and her husband Justin; and his brother, Trent VanWeerd.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jan “Hank” VanWeerd; his brother, Rulon VanDreew; and his brother, Jan VanWeerd.

Paul’s life was marked by laughter, conversation, generosity, and love. He leaves behind treasured memories for all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed while being fondly remembered with gratitude and affection.
