Maura Lea McDill

Maura Lea McDill, lovingly known as Lea, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was born on April 23, 1958, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Kenneth and Marilyn McDill.

Lea eventually made her way west to Utah to attend Snow College, where a new chapter of her life began. It was shortly after arriving in Utah that she met Ron Brown, a ski patroller at Park City Mountain Resort. Utah became home, and Lea and Ron built a life filled with adventure, friendship, community, and the many activities they loved until Ron passed in 2013.

Lea had an adventurous spirit and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She enjoyed hiking, trap shooting, and spending time with horses. In recent years, she found particular joy in playing pickleball and sharing her energy and enthusiasm with others as a water aerobics instructor at the South Summit Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Those who knew Lea will remember her for her passion, independence, warmth, and zest for life. She had a remarkable ability to become part of the communities around her, and she gave her time and enthusiasm freely to the people and activities she cared about. Her absence will be deeply felt by the many friends and neighbors that had the privilege of knowing her.

Lea is survived by her sister, Mindy McDill; her brother, Kent McDill; and her grandson, Cole Johnston. Though Lea is no longer with us, her adventurous spirit, her love of the outdoors, and the memories she created with so many will remain. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of Lea’s life will be held on Sunday, October 18th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Oakley Red Barn, 4300 N SR 32 in Oakley, Utah.

Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, remember Lea, and celebrate the life she lived. There will be an opportunity for those who wish to speak and share their favorite memories of Lea from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In honor of Lea and the many memories she gave us, you may bring a framed photo of Lea to trade.
