After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s, MaryLou Hatch Pearce passed away in her sleep on October 1, 2026. She was born on February 27, 1954, in Vernal, UT to Glen Lewis Hatch and Joan DeJournette Hatch. While growing up with three sisters and one brother, the family moved across the United States to locations including Salt Lake City, Idaho Falls, Cleveland, and her high school years were spent in Boston. As a child, MaryLou had a love of reading. After high school she moved to Provo, UT to attend BYU, where she enrolled in Social Dance 101 and met Ronald Eldredge Pearce. After dancing together in class, Ron asked her on a date and she said yes. After a few months of dating Ron asked her to marry him and she said yes again. They were married on January 11, 1974, in the Salt Lake City temple. While in Provo, they welcomed Stephanie, Rachel and Natalie into the family. The family moved to Concord, CA for a new job opportunity and that is where Michael, Allison, Jessica and Bradley were born. While her children were young, MaryLou was president of the PTA and very active at her children’s school, helping with yard duty during recess and using her incredible organizational skills in planning school events. While Ron was working, she would take the kids camping, on trips to visit family, and summers were spent watching the kids compete on the local swim team. In the fall and spring, you could find her sitting on the sidelines of a soccer field, and she always enjoyed supporting her children in their music endeavors. Throughout the years she used her skills to help augment the family income as a transcriptionist. The family eventually moved to Littleton, CO, and after the kids were mostly raised, her culinary skills led her to start her own catering business. After hanging up her apron, she became a manager of the distribution center for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints until her retirement.
MaryLou loved reading, cooking, music, games and being active. She made sure her children had music lessons, and the family would participate in church choir and enjoyed Christmas caroling each year. She enjoyed playing games with others, especially Boggle and Nertz, and loved hosting Nertz parties for her friends. MaryLou loved to ski and played tennis competitively on a local team. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she spent many years as girls camp director, primary chorister and ward choir director, among many other callings. Her testimony and love of the Savior touched many people through her church service.
MaryLou is survived by her husband, Ronald Pearce; children Stephanie (Mark) Terriblini, Rachel (David) Fitzgerald, Natalie (Troy) Skeens, Michael Pearce, Allison (Kevin) Bradshaw, Jessica Pearce, and Brad (Brie) Pearce; siblings Linda Lee, Kathy (Scott) Mitchell, Becky Maesato, and David (Meire) Hatch; 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. The family would like to express appreciation to Rocky Mountain Care Facility in Evanston, WY for taking such good care of MaryLou in the final days of her life and for all the condolences and well-wishes that have been expressed. Funeral services will be facilitated by Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, WY and will take place Saturday October 10, 2026, at the Lyman LDS church building (127 N. Main St. Lyman, WY) with a viewing at 9am and the service starting at 11am. All are welcome to attend.
