Mary Lou Fackrell Cross, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Brigham City, Utah, at the age of 96. She was born on May 31, 1929, in Lyman, Wyoming, and lived a remarkable life dedicated to her family, community, and passions.
Mary Lou, fondly known as Lou, was a devoted rancher, deeply connected to the land and livestock she cherished.
She became an active member of her community, serving on the Mountain View School Board and several organizations, including the Relief Society, Uinta County Federated Woman's Club, Xedena Club, El Cid Club, and the Hi Ho Riding Club.
An enthusiastic sports lover, Lou was particularly passionate about bowling and golfing. She was a super fan of the Utah Jazz, rarely missing a game on television-listeners beware: calls during game time would go unanswered! Her fondest memories included watching games live in Salt Lake City and joyfully meeting Thurl Bailey.
As a vibrant presence in her community, Lou could often be seen on her red bike navigating the streets of Mountain View traveling to and from the ranch she loved so much. Above all, her greatest joy came from the time spent with family and friends, who meant the world to her.
In accordance with her wishes, there will not be a viewing or funeral service. However, a graveside service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Fort Bridger Cemetery, located at 2751 Cemetery Rd., Fort Bridger, Wyoming, where friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate her remarkable life and legacy.
