Obituary

Larry Eugene Youngberg passed away on July 1, 2026, in Morgan, Utah, surrounded by his family at the age of 88.

Larry was born to Crystal Winder Youngberg and Jessie Matilda Anderson on November 5, 1937, in Lyman, Wyoming, in a home on Lincoln Street that still stands today. He was born jaundiced and struggling and had to be warmed in a box by the fire. He proved to be a fighter from the first day of his life until the very last. He was the fourth of six children, and his younger sisters always claimed he was their mother’s favorite. His siblings were LaRue Potter, Robert C. Youngberg, Louis A. Youngberg, Lucinda Kay Potter, and Janeen Medina.

Larry grew up on the family ranch in McKinnon, Wyoming, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors, ranch life, and spending time with his parents, siblings, grandparents, and his beloved uncles. At the age of 16, he moved to Lyman to complete his high school education, as that opportunity was not available in McKinnon. It was there that he met his future wife, Lauralee Walker.

After graduating, Larry went to work for Mountain Fuel in Utah, but quickly decided he could not be without Lauralee. They were married on October 24, 1957. Their first child, Larry Shane, was born in 1959. A year later, Shauna Lee joined the family, and in 1966, Nicole completed their family.

Larry later worked for Thiokol in Tremonton, Utah, where he became a machinist and contributed to our nation’s security by helping build Minuteman missiles. Wyoming, however, was always home. On July 1, 1968, the family returned to Lyman, where Larry went to work for Allied Chemical. He eventually became the foreman over the machine shop and powerhouse, remaining there until retiring at the age of 55.

Larry was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held the office of high priest, and he and Lauralee served together in the temple for a year. He loved horses, team roping, riding anything that would buck, hunting, golf, guns, anything that would blow up, spending time with family, and, most especially, being at the ranch.

Larry and Lauralee built a loving family and a lasting legacy through their three children, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, with more sure to follow. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shane (Roxanne) Lyman; Shauna Dee(Steve) West Weber, Utah; and Nicole Moretti(Gregg) Lyman.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, LaRue Potter, and brother-in-law Charles Potter; his brothers, Robert C. Youngberg and Louis A. Youngberg; his sister-in-law, LuraJean Youngberg; his brother-in-law, Junior Medina; and his great-granddaughter, Wren Carter Dee.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 7, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lyman, Wyoming. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at the Lyman City Cemetery. Services will also be livestreamed on the Crandall Funeral Home website.
