Karma Jackson Gilmore

October 18, 1928 — March 10, 2026

Evanston

Karma Jackson Gilmore was born in Randolph, Utah on October 18,1928 to Elmo and Isabelle (Jones) Jackson. She was 97 years old. She was the first-born child of eight children: Ada, Marvin, Marjorie, Morgan, Elmo (Moe), Myrtle, and Belva. Karma attended school in Randolph and later worked as a telephone operator. She met Joseph Fred Gilmore, who was the brother-in-law of her sister Margorie Gilmore. They were married on June 15, 1952, in Randolph, Utah.

They were blessed with five children, Jule Ann, Richard Jay, Gail Marie, Dale Scott and Henry Thomas. Fred Gilmore worked on the railroad, and they moved around as work required for several years, ending up in Evanston. The Gilmore family were ranchers from Hilliard Flat near Evanston, Wyoming and Fred and Karma later moved there with their family and soon took over the ranch. After Fred's death in 1970, Karma and her children remained on the ranch. They worked very hard to keep things going. Karma was a very strong woman. She should always be admired. She lived there until 2015 when her daughter Gail graciously brought her to Evanston to live with her. Karma lived there until her death.

Karma was a member of the LDS Church. She was an avid reader and always had a book in her hand. She loved old westerns, especially those with John Wayne. She crocheted and did crafts until she was unable to. While still living at the ranch she enjoyed canning and trying new recipes. She liked to walk the hills around the ranch house and look for wildflowers and "her bluebirds". She loved to visit with family and friends. She would say it was a special treat when her great-grandchildren would come for a visit and a hug.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Fred Gilmore, parents Elmo Jackson and Isabelle (Jones) Jackson, sisters Ada Jackson, Margorie Jackson Gilmore, Belva Jackson Richman, brothers Marvin Jackson and Morgan Jackson.

She is survived by her children Julie Dunker (Mitch), Richard Gilmore (Micki), Gail Stever, Scott Gilmore (Connie) and Thomas Gilmore (Susan) along with grandchildren Michael Dunker (Shanna), James Dunker, Jeremy Dunker, Wilson Gilmore, Kyle Gilmore (Karlene), Brandi Gilmore, Daniel Gilmore (Christy), Tyrell Gilmore, Landon Gilmore (Daphne) and Dylan Gilmore (Kayla) along with eight great-grandchildren, Chasity, Jeffery and Joshua, Jack, Paisley, Connor, Porter and Luke. She is also survived by her sister Myrtle Jackson Martin (Loren) and brother Elmo James Jackson (Judy), brother-in-law Deloy Richman, 2 sister-in-laws, Flora Wagstaff and Amy (Bill) Narramore many nieces and nephews. She loved them all.

The family would like to send out a special thank you to Best Home Hospice nurses Amanda Morris, Jen Martin, and CNA Nessie Hervin for their amazing care of Karma.

Also a special thank you to Cyndie Olsen, Naomi Johnson, and Nancy Anderson for their continuing support and love for our Gail and family.
