James Lindsay Jackson

March 19, 1958 — October 7, 2025

Mesquite, Nevada

James Lindsay Jackson “Jim”, 67, of Mesquite Nevada passed away surrounded by his wife and children after a loving send off with many family members on October 7, 2025 in St. George, UT.

Jim was born on March 19, 1958 in Moses Lake, Washington to Melba Robinson and Lloyd George Jackson. He grew up in Moses Lake with 2 sisters and 4 brothers. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the England Leeds mission (1977-1979).

Jim married his sweetheart and very best friend, Cynthia Lee Carpenter “Cindy”, in the Salt Lake LDS temple on March 28,1980. Together they raised their 5 children residing in Orem, UT, Big Piney, WY, and Evanston, WY before retiring to their beautiful home in Mesquite, NV where he discovered his love for the desert, backyard sunsets, and all the wonderful friends they made.

Jim worked as a Master Electrician, served on city council, volunteered with the food bank, and could fix or build anything. Some of his projects included restoring a 1979 Ford truck, a home addition, and many remodels and yard renovations. He was also a wiz in the kitchen making the best bread, chili, and all things grilled. He loved shooting, snow machining, riding side by sides, tinkering with gadgets, spending time with family, teasing and playing with grandchildren, and working in the St. George Temple.

Jim was known for his great sense of humor keeping us all laughing with his endless jokes and funny texts and was rarely serious. He was a pillar of faith being an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had the most giving heart and would do anything for anyone.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cindy, his children Rikki (Matt) Colton, Leslie (Matt) Howe, Melanie Millward, Rory (Cami) Jackson, Caitlyn (Michael) Frakes, his grandchildren Parker, Tucker, Toby, Carly, Marcus, Carson, Jace, Quinn, and Sophie, his brothers Bob (Kim), Tom (M’Lee), Scott (Chandra), sister, Sue, his sister in law, Sharon, and his brother in law, Charlie Virgin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melba and Lloyd, brother, Dave, sister, Jean, and his father and mother-in-law, Duane and Joyce Carpenter.

Jim’s Funeral will be held on Monday October 13, 2025 at 11 am at the Sage and 2nd Street Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel. Jim was adamant that (and this is a direct quote) “THERE WILL BE NO VIEWING WHEN I KICK THE BUCKET!” but his beloved family will be accepting visitors starting at 10 am.
