James Drake Kirkland

James Drake Kirkland, a talented audio engineer and gifted musician, left this world on October 2, 2025, at the age of 38. Born on May 27, 1987, in Seattle, Washington, James was a beloved husband to Kayla Marie Doyle Kirkland and a cherished son to Moritz and Ursula Kirkland.

A passionate member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, James's faith guided him through life and influenced his warm, compassionate spirit. He was an aspiring librarian, dedicated to sharing knowledge and understanding and fostering a love for reading in others. In addition to his love for books, James was a remarkable songwriter, lending his musical talent to numerous projects and touching the lives of many through his work in the music and entertainment industry.

James is survived by his adoring wife, Kayla; his father Moritz; his mother Ursula; brothers Aaron, Moritz III, Michael, and Adam; and sister Robin.

Funeral services will be held on October 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Evanston South Stake Center. A public viewing will take place at the same location earlier that day from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

James will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His contributions to music, his unwavering faith, and his boundless love for his family and friends will be cherished and remembered always.
