Huguette Augustine Barbier Dunning passed away on February 9, 2024 after a long life of 99 years, surrounded by loved ones. Huguette was born on January 28, 1925, in Laon, France, to Arthur and Louise Barbier. She lived a life of history growing up in France during World War II. In 1944, Huguette went to a USO dance and met the love of her life, Enoch Edward Dunning. They were married in Laon, France August 1, 1946. While Enoch finished his service in France, later that year, Huguette crossed the Atlantic Ocean by herself making a home in Evanston, Wyoming with the rest of the Dunning family. Together Enoch and Huguette enjoyed entertaining, supporting the University of Wyoming, and being outdoors. Often referred to as cookie grandma, Huguette and Enoch built a legacy of family including 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Huguette loved crocheting, reading, cooking, watching tennis and horse racing. Every morning she would complete a crossword puzzle becoming a fountain of facts.
Huguette is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Louise Barbier, her brother Louis Barbier, her husband Enoch Dunning, son-in-laws Bob Brass and Keith Fackrell, and grandson Daniel Dunning. She is survived by Lisbet Brass, Connie (John) Davis, Eric (Mary) Dunning, and Chris Dunning. The family would like to give a special thank you to Rocky Mountain Care and their staff, Father August, the catholic church, and all those that have loved and cared for Huguette over the years.
Funeral services for Huguette Dunning will be held on Saturday, February 17th at Crandall Funeral Home. Family prayer will begin at 10:30, followed by sharing of memories from anyone willing to share. Interment will be held at Evanston City Cemetery.
