Heather Lynne Cates, 48, of Evanston, Wyoming, passed away on April 26, 2026.

Heather was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and granddaughter whose life centered around the people she loved most. She was known for her passionate heart, caring nature, kindness, strength, and deep devotion to her family and friends.

Heather found her greatest joy in spending time with her loved ones and creating meaningful memories with those closest to her. Her kindness, strength, and love will be remembered by all who knew her.

Above all, Heather was a devoted and loving mother. Her proudest accomplishment in life was her two sons, Scott and Avery. She poured her whole heart into raising them, and being their mom brought her a profound sense of purpose and happiness.

Heather had a big heart and cared deeply for everyone around her, no matter the circumstances. This was evident as she served as a paraeducator for special needs students at Clark Elementary and North Elementary. She earned her CNA and had hopes of returning to nursing school. She worked in the Walmart clothing department, where she made many fond memories spending time with her sons. Scott will always treasure those moments as well as the times they worked together at Mitsubishi.

Heather enjoyed working out at the rec center, learning to play the guitar, and had a strong love for music, especially Chris LeDoux and Jason Aldean. She cherished every moment spent with her family - holidays, reunions, and quiet times. Avery will always cherish the memories of fishing or walking the paths with her at Bear Park.

Heather is survived by her parents, Steve and Julie Cates; her two sons, Scott and Avery Beaudoin; her brother, Doug Cates, and nephews Dayton and Rem; and many other cherished family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Lloyd, Grandpa Umphrey, and uncles Mike Lloyd and Brent Umphrey.

A celebration of life will be held in July (details forthcoming). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). A GoFundMe has been established to help with funeral expenses.
