Gary Alexander Simonton, 74, of Evanston, Wyoming, passed away on September 17, 2025. Gary was born to Gerald and Pearl Simonton, on November 3, 1950, in Casper, Wyoming. He truly was a jack of all trades, especially when it came to turning a wrench or hammering a nail while never turning down a cup of coffee. Gary, a proud American, was a devoted and loyal man being lucky enough to do exactly what he wanted, follow in his Daddy’s footsteps of being a truck driver in the oil field. He followed that dream for over 50 years, making a deep impact on the Rocky Mountain and Intermountain West Oil Industry by starting with Haliburton Services in Brighton, Colorado which then brought him to Evanston, Wyoming in 1977. In 1983, after almost 10 years with Haliburton, Gary was hired by Seale Oilfield Consultants in Evanston as a part-time truck driver where he would become the backbone of the operation for the next 37 and a half years finally retiring in October of 2020. In retirement he spent time with his loving wife, best friend and soul mate Debbie, following their passion for helping animals from making coats for homeless dogs to transporting any K9 that needed to get across Southwestern Wyoming and Northern Utah. Gary was always a kid at heart and not afraid of a good joke or prank. Some of his favorites were tickling his kids and teaching them how to turn off the hot water on each other. His signature move was walking across the grocery store parking lot with his hat turned sideways, one pant leg stuffed in his boot while asking you questions far too loud so that everyone knew he was with you. Gary’s loving spirit is carried on by his wife of over 50 years, Debbie; their children Senior Master Sergeant Gary A Simonton, US Air Force Retired, (Little Gary) and his wife Erika, Lisa (Simonton) Gibby and her husband Jared, and Chief Petty Officer Kathie Lopez, US Navy Retired. He has two grandchildren, Randall Coley and Kylee Gibby. Gary will be missed most by his faithful guardians, Odin and Angel. They will continue filling his home with love and Pyr glitter in his honor. Preceding him in peace were his dad Gerald, mother Pearl and stepfather (Pop) Vern Schilder. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Great Pyrenees Rescue Resources Utah Montana in Gary’s name.
