1936 Edward 2026

Edward "Nelson" Bowie

February 13, 1936 — January 20, 2026

Evanston

Edward “Nelson” Bowie was born on February 13, 1936, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Fred and Edith Bowie. He spent his early years in Wyoming before moving to Cañon City, Colorado, and later to the Greeley area.

In October 1955, Ed enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his service, he was stationed in Guam, where he distinguished himself as a talented athlete—serving as the fast-pitch pitcher for the Marine Corps softball team, a starting forward on the basketball team, and a member of the Marine Corps rifle team, earning numerous awards in each sport. He was also part of the land-and-sea rescue team until his honorable discharge in 1957.

On October 17, 1957, Ed married the love of his life, Joanne Cazer. Together, they made their home in Fort Collins and Northglenn, Colorado, until 1972, when Ed’s job transferred them to Evanston, Wyoming—a community they’ve proudly called home ever since.

Ed built a long and dedicated career as a truck driver, working first for Time DC and later for Hutchinson Oil, retiring after an impressive 52 years behind the wheel.

Ed and Joanne were blessed with four children: Duane, Darrell, Becky, and Kenny. He was preceded in death by his parents; three of his siblings and their spouses; three of his children; and two grandchildren, Royce Davis Jr. and grandson-in-law Nic Davison.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; his son, Darrell, and daughter-in-law, Karen; and his brother, Bill. Ed is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Carmen, Jesse, Vanessa, Ryan, Justine, Gabrielle, Jordan, Eve, and Banan.

Ed will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and love for his family. His legacy lives on in those who knew and cherished him.
