Dewey R. Saxton left us unexpectedly on March 31, 2023. His journey has been completed here on earth. He was born December 11, 1931 in Oakley, Utah to Curtis Lavell Saxton and Florence Aston Richards. His father passed away at a very young age. Dewey was 4 years old at that time. He had three sisters, Emily, Utahna, and Wilma, and one brother Earl. At the age of 10 he started doing a newspaper route in Oakley on horseback. Snow, rain, or sunshine he delivered them on time, to help with income for his mother. He also worked herding sheep, milking cows, and busting broncos. He was a true cowboy. He married Carla Dean Warburton and together they had 5 children. He worked for Park City Mines for many years until they closed. Then he proceeded to work in the construction business. His loving wife Carla passed away February 3, 1997. A few years later he and Gwen Simpson married on September 9, 2000. What a blessing for our family.
He was such a great husband and father. He loved his children and Gwen unconditionally. His great love for the outdoors was hunting, fishing, and camping with friends and family. He loved his horse and riding in the mountains to find new adventures. That was another love of his life.
He and Gwen had some amazing vacations and traveling through the years together. They spent their winters in Beaver Dam, AZ. And their summers in Oakley, Utah. They had so many friends and family in both areas. On July 4, 2018 they were honored to be the Grand Marshalls for that celebration.
Dewey is survived by his children and loving wife, Gwen, Curt & Susan, Kellie & Garlan, Russell & Mary, Penny & Jack. His daughter Sally Robertson passed away on November 14, 2021. She was preceded by her husband, Mickael Robertson, September 14, 2019.
Also surviving are his step-sons Kim (Lana) Simpson; and Brad (Jane) Simpson. He will also be missed by his 10 grand children, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Gwen has 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Per Dewey’s express wishes family and friends will gather for a graveside service on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Oakley Cemetery.
