Deil Kay Gordon was born to Deil Gordon and Beth Atkinson Gordon on October 20, 1942 in Park City, UT.
Deil Kay was the oldest of four children in the Gordon household. He spent his childhood in the mountains of Park City, Utah and Ouray, Colorado mining with his father and uncles. When not at work, his childhood was spent with beloved cousins in the Kamas Valley while living with Grandma Kate.
Deil excelled in athletics during his four years at Park City High School where he graduated In 1961.
Deil married Kathleen “Kathy” Carpenter Gordon on Sept 10 1965 in Kamas Utah. Later they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28 1979.
Diligent about his work in transportation as a driver and mechanic, Deil enjoyed his time driving a truck during the day and working on trucks at night with his closest friends. His keen expertise and his agreeable nature meant that he was the first call for those needing help with their truck. Quick to serve anyone in need, he was always meticulous about his work.
Deil didn’t pursue hobbies regularly, his life was built around family, church, and work. He enjoyed spending time on the lake with family whenever possible. The family’s vacation memories are often tied to boating on Rockport and Lake Powell. Carseats and breathalyzer tests weren’t a thing. Anyone in the Kamas Valley that waterskis can likely tie the origins of their waterski instruction back to Deil and Farrell “FA”.
Honesty and integrity are the hallmarks of Deil’s character.
Deil is preceded in death by parents, parents-in-law Tim and Lydia Carpenter, brother-in-law Harris “Harry” Carpenter, and sister-in-law Sara “Sally” Carpenter Wright.
Deil is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Carpenter Gordon, sister Paula Gordon Thomason, sister Sharlene Gordon Cottis (Joseph), and brother Don Kip Gordon.
His Children, Gina Kaye Gordon Thurgood, Maria Todd (Kevan), Marci Gines (Larry), Justin Carpenter Gordon (Andrea), Brandi Honey (Sam), Brittani Mitchell (Steven A), Joni Blackmore (Richard), 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren
