David Taylor

July 12, 1954 — September 8, 2025

David Lynn Taylor (1954-2025), loving husband, father, and devoted grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Lyman, Wyoming on September 8, 2025, after 12 long years of heart disease.

David (“Big Dave”) loved camping and being in nature, and he loved all things Boy Scouts and “mountain man.” Many will remember and miss his amazing Dutch oven cooking, as well as his fresh sourdough bread and hot soup—which he shared often, with neighbors and anyone he thought needed it (or just needed a visit). He was sometimes gruff but always generous.

He met Cindy Fuller in 1977 and whisked her off her feet (literally, carrying her across a stream and winning her heart). They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 4, 1977. They treasured their 48 years together, and even with all the hardships, they would do it all over again.

They had their first daughter, Amber, a couple of years later. Together he and Cindy cared for 30 foster children during their marriage and opened their home to countless others along the way that needed a hand up. Cindy always joked that their house had a revolving door.

David was a Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor for over 35 years, running his own business, Mountain West Electric, for much of that time. He is responsible for the electrical work in many homes, churches, and businesses throughout Utah and Wyoming. No one ever worked harder than David—he quite literally worked his heart out.

David was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had an unwavering faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served an honorable mission to British Columbia, and spent almost all his church service in Scouting, which he loved dearly.

Above all, David loved being a dad and grandpa. He took his gal pal (daughter), Amber, on all the camping trips and outdoor adventures, and she was her daddy’s girl. One of the most joyful moments of his and Cindy’s life was when they were able to adopt three beautiful boys, Tyson at age 8, James at 6, and Cisco at 3. They were sealed as a family in 1999. He supported all his children’s interests, attending nearly every school play, choir performance, baseball, soccer, basketball or football game. David was a generous dad. He didn’t give his children a lot of “things” but many wonderful experiences he hoped would be a treasure for them.

His four grandchildren adored him and will miss tickle fights on the floor, the treats he was always ready to share, shooting the gun with grandpa and so many other things. He spent as much time with them as he could and was never happier than when he was with them.

David was preceded in death by his little brother JoJo, his parents, and his older brother, Dennis.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; children Amber, Tyson (Tiffany), James (Whitney), and Cisco (Mark); grandchildren Noah, Theo, Ella, and Evander; and siblings Catherine (Joseph), Sharon (Sam), Karen (Andy), Thomas (Jamie), Kumen (Connie), Rama (David), Olive (Mike), and Earl (Michelle), and many nieces and nephews that he also doted on.

We are grateful for him in our lives and will miss him dearly.
