Dallas Ray Thacker, 80, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Oakley, Utah. He was born in the family home on February 28, 1946- the tenth child of Claude Merlin and Hilda Fullmer Thacker. Born and raised in Kamas, Utah, he and his brothers found more than their fair share of mischief. From a very young age, Dallas exhibited an uncanny talent of fishing. Somehow, this talent improved even more throughout his life. Many large fish fries were provided by his single-handed efforts.

Dallas loved cars in general but had a love for fast cars and motorcycles. As a young man, he was riding his motorcycle in Oakley, when he saw two young ladies walking. Being the natural flirt he was, he stopped and offered each of them a ride. Little did he know at that moment that he had met his “Little Dove”- the one he would want to spend the rest of eternity with. On May 29, 1969, he married his beautiful bride, Janet Marie Snapp, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah Temple. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Tina Marie, Ray Oral, Keith Claude “KC”, and Rian S. Thacker. They were married for 57 years.

Dallas was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in various callings, some of which are: Stake High Council, bishopric counselor, and nursery leader (his favorite). With his wife, he served three missions. The first was a local stake mission. Their second mission was an intercity mission in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City, Utah. Their final mission was a proselyting mission to Concordia, Kansas. Dallas loved serving as a temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple. In addition to these experiences, Dallas loved volunteering on Temple Square during the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Dallas was a gifted mechanic and welder. He is best-known for his heart of gold. If he saw someone in need, he was there- always helping. Dallas didn’t do “nothing” well. He was always up and doing. As his health deteriorated over the last couple of years, he became upset when his sons hid the keys to his “toys” (mini-excavator, dump truck, etc.). Instead of giving up, he got creative. Just last week, Dallas was seen driving his tractor with an overflowing load of manure down SR 32 in Oakley, Utah, because “someone needed it,” and he couldn’t wait for one of his sons to help him.

Dallas is preceded in death by both of his parents and all of his siblings: Clauda, Joyce (Eugene), Ann (Jack), Fay (Ted), Myrle (Carl), Don, Mary Lou, Linda, Chad, and Nile (Gloria). He is survived by his wife, Janet, eight sister-in-laws: Barbara Thacker, Carolyn Ray, Julene Bowen, Dorothy Conger, Gloria Mitchell, Paulette Snapp, and Stacy Santos; five brother-in-laws: Brent Spaulding, Ron Bowen, Jim Mitchell, Nolan Snapp, and Joe Santos; four children: Tina (Steve Carlisle), Ray, KC (Dari), and Rian (Sara), as well as 8 grandchildren: Talisa Carlisle, Kindra Senzig (Esteban), Parker Carlisle, Aaron Thacker, Tyler Thacker (Allison), Emma Thacker, Tristan Thacker, and Jaida Thacker.

Services will be held in the North Bench building: Viewings from 6-9 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 28, and 9:30-10:45 a.m., on Tuesday; funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Internment will be in the North Bench Cemetery, Oakley, Utah.
