Robertson

Connie Jean Field Hickey unexpectedly passed away at age 93 in Evanston, Wyoming, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Sept. 14, 1932 to Donald Mathew Field and Martha Roberts Field, she was the 5th of 7 children. If there was ever a woman that could be called an angel on earth it was her. She served and loved everyone.

Connie spent most of her life on a ranch in Robertson, Wyoming, working with her husband, Ted. Despite being married to an old cowboy and rancher, she never used colorful language, always being a class act. She loved ranch life, especially caring for and being around animals. Upon retiring, Connie and her husband Ted moved to Phoenix, Arizona to enjoy some sun and fun. She recently returned to her beloved Robertson to live with her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law David.

As a teenager, Connie was active in school. She was a cheerleader, Junior Prom Queen, band majorette, and participated in FHA and school plays.

After graduating from Lyman High School, Connie married her high school sweetheart, Ted Lewis Hickey, on May 21, 1950. She loved sharing that he was the only man she ever kissed. Her father, who was the bishop, performed the ceremony.

Connie and Ted were blessed with four children, Lonnie Lance Hickey (Birdie), Debbie Jo Hickey Tanner (David), Ronnie Lynn Hickey, and Lisa Dawn Hickey Atkin. Lonnie was killed in a mining accident in 1978. His loss was a very difficult time for her, but her strength and beliefs as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helped her through this very difficult tragedy.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents Donald Mathew Field and Martha Roberts; her husband, Ted Lewis Hickey; her siblings Donald Dee Field, Blanch Bradshaw, Ernest R. Field, Shirley Mae Bowen, and Darrel George Field. She is survived by her sister, Carol Lou Hofer of Evanston, Wyoming; her children, Debbie Tanner of Robertson, Wyoming, Ronnie Hickey of Denver, Colorado, Lisa Atkin of Phoenix, Arizona; ten grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.

She belonged to the Willow Creek Club for countless years, enjoying spending time with the women and doing projects. Connie also loved bowling in her later years.

Despite all of her talents, her greatest talent and priority was caring for and unconditionally loving her family. Family always came first. She was an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother.

"Mom, you may be gone from our sight but you are never gone from our hearts."
