Obituary

Clara Jean (Mitchell) Vranish, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. She was born on October 24, 1945, in Bozeman, Montana, to Alan Dean Mitchell and Laura Jean (Lambert) Mitchell.

Clara Jean preferred to be called Jean. She spent her early years in Trident, Montana, where she attended the one-room Trident School. Her family later moved the short distance to Manhattan, Montana, where she graduated from high school. Jean then moved to Bozeman, Montana, where she attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. While living in Bozeman, she met the love of her life, Clarence Vranish, and they were married on November 27, 1968.

Jean and her young family later moved to Cody, Wyoming, and then to Cut Bank, Montana, before permanently settling in Evanston, Wyoming, in 1979. She made this wonderful community her forever home.

Although Jean was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at an early age, and the disease eventually took a toll on her body, it never defeated her spirit. She will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her sister, Karen Dyk of Mesquite, Nevada; her son, Michael Vranish, and his wife, Rhonda, of Evanston, Wyoming; and her two grandchildren, Alyssa Vranish, Joseph Vranish and his wife, Theresa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alan Dean and Laura Jean Mitchell; her husband, Clarence Joseph Vranish; her son, Eric Joseph Vranish; and her brother, Alan Mitchell.

Jean’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
