Cecil (Bill) Edward McGowen, 78, of Lyman, Wyoming passed away May 29, 2023 at KPC Promise Hospital of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born October 13,1944 in Charleston, Arkansas, the son of James Robert and Alma Mae McGowen. Cecil was an independent man who spent his younger years serving in the United States Army, traveling the world, and working many different jobs. He met the love of his life Lorna Ann. They were married for 43 years. Together they raised four children and eventually put down roots in Lyman, Wyoming. Cecil worked as a millwright mechanic at TATA Chemicals for over 35 years before he retired.
Cecil was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved the outdoors. He had passions for rock hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and hunting. He was a wise man. Cecil always knew just what to say to make you feel better. He and Lorna were always helping anyone in need. Above everything else in his life, was his wife Lorna. He loved her more than life itself. Lorna and his family were his world. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his children, Larry Cooley, Curtiss (Kay) Cooley, Linda (Danny) Williams, and Woodrow (Sandra) Lowe, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Cecil was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lorna, several siblings, and his parents.
A private family service is to be held at a later date per his request.
