Carlene Shaw Barker came into this world as the third daughter and third child of six children of Walter and Phoebe Shaw on August 23, 1936 and peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on March 9, 2026.
Carlene was a fun loving person; she most enjoyed spending time with family, especially at the cabin in the Uintas. She enjoyed reading Western novels and going on walks. She loved being in nature and watching "Murder She Wrote".
Carlene married Weston Rayo Barker on August 12, 1957. They raised their 4 children in Evanston. They lived in Evanston their entire lives with the exception of a short stay in California.
She is survived by her brother Byron Shaw, sister-in-laws Linda Shaw, Maryann Barker, and her children: Kurt (Anne), Susan, Jim (Terri), Eric (Stacy), as well as her grandchildren: Sean, Tyler (Jessica), Cory (Caitlin), Tate (Mishawn), Nic and Jayson Barker and Jessi (Julio) Andrino. She is also survived by her 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rayo Barker, her parents Walter and Phoebe Shaw, her siblings Verla (Jim) Condos, Joyce (Gene) Nicholls, Merrill Shaw, Russell Shaw.
Carlene never met a person who wasn't a friend, or met an animal or child that didn't need a treat. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A special thank you to Kathy Elardi and Sydnee Davis for being great caretakers and friends to her in her last years. Funeral services will be held March 16, 2026.
A viewing will take place at 11:00 a.m., with a graveside service to follow at noon at Evanston City Cemetery. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite children's charity or local animal shelter.
