Bettie Jo Seitz, age 101, passed away at her daughter’s house in Evanston on August 19, 2025.
Born August 6, 1924, in Denver, Colorado, she moved to Evanston when she was 1 ½ years old. She was proud to be one of the first girl’s staters. Bettie taught school at a one room schoolhouse in Hilliard, was the owner of several businesses in Evanston after selling the Coles ranch in Almy. She loved to travel and visited many countries. After her husband Bud died, she moved South of Robertson where she lived with her daughter.
Bettie was an accomplished organist and played at many churches, played for dozens of funerals and weddings. She was also very active in Eastern Star, playing the piano for the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star and was a member for more than 50 years and played piano for the Evanston Chapter for most of that.
She was Grand Organist for the Grand chapter of Wyoming and traveled all over the state for meetings.
She was adored by many, her wit, sweet treats and music will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ernest (Bud) Coles, a daughter Catherine Jane, a grandson Jeffrey, a granddaughter Brandy, great grandson Bridger, and a great great granddaughter Avery.
Bettie is survived by 4 children Gary, Roger (Diana), Sallie, and Mary Ann, 8 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 25 great great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Presbyterian Church in Evanston. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. At Bettie’s request cremation has taken place.
