Alvin Curtis Powers

April 8, 1943 — September 30, 2025

Alvin Curtis “Curt” Powers, 82, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Littlefield, Arizona.

Curt was born on April 8, 1943, in Lyman, Wyoming, to Alvin and Barbara Powers. Known for his spunk, quick wit, cowboy spirit, and boundless love for his family, Curt lived life on his own terms and never met a joke he didn’t like.

For over 53 years, Curt was an Over the road trucker, earning respect from coworkers and friends alike for his grit, determination, and ability to tell a story that could make even the grumpiest person laugh. He won various awards for his impeccable safety and skill as,

“Wyoming Red.” He drove for Pride Transport the last 20 years and ended his career with them. He drove all through the lower 48, plus Alaska and Canada.

Curt’s happiest moments were spent with family or driving truck—making them laugh until their sides hurt, soaking up the sunshine, or trying (sometimes successfully, sometimes not!) to teach his kids and grandkids the fine art of yodeling.

Curt leaves behind Jackie Powers, his loving wife of 42 years, and previously married Rita Powers, with whom he had four children: Shelly (Roger) Powers, Shauna (Steve) Sokol, Shadalyn (Rick) Ellison, and Shad (Merinda) Powers. He also leaves behind his other two children, Shayne and Shawn Sheets. Curt’s eight grandchildren—Brady and Marcus Madrigal, Sydnee (Andrew) Harrell, Austin (Kylee) and Saxton Nelson, Kelsi (Michael) Powers, Kyzer and Kyzee Powers—adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara, and his brother Stephen.

A funeral service celebrating Curt’s life will be held at Crandall Funeral Home, 800 Uinta St. Evanston WY, 82930, on Saturday, October 11th, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to share stories, laughter, and memories of a true cowboy who lived life with humor, love, and heart.
