Allen Neal Thomason, 73, passed away in the company of his family on September 12, 2026; Allen leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him.

Allen was a husband, brother, storyteller, golfer and a man who never met a par-5 he didn't aspire to reach in two strokes. Allen shared his life with his wife Debora (Deb) Thomason. The two have been partners since 2005 and married for 10 years. Their years together were built on love, companionship, endless golf and many memories that were created side by side. Although Allen did not have biological children of his own, he was loved and embraced by Deb’s daughters and became part of their family. He was later loved and enjoyed by the grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa.”

Allen dedicated 35 years of his life and career to Chevron, where he was known as a steady, dependable presence, the kind of guy you wanted on your team. Throughout those years he served under many different titles and carried significant responsibilities in workplace and production safety. His career reflected his leadership, knowledge, commitment, and strong work ethic. Thirty-five years with one company was a testament to the loyalty and dedication Allen brought to the things that mattered to him. He carried that same quiet reliability into every part of his life.

Outside of work, Allen’s true passion was golf. The game was much more than a hobby to him, the golf course is where he lived when he wasn’t at work. Playing skins with his buddies on Sunday morning or simply spending a beautiful day on the fairway with Deb. Golf was how Allen bonded with people and made lifelong friends. Later in his life he continued to prioritize golf in retirement and began to split his time between Evanston, Wyoming and Mesquite, Nevada, trading Wyoming winters for Nevada fairways. If there was a golf course within driving distance, Allen had probably played it, complained about the greens like they'd personally wronged him, and then gone back the next week to give them one more chance to make it right. His swing may not have always cooperated, but his enthusiasm never wavered.

Allen is survived by his loving wife Deb, his eldest sister Barb Thomason, younger siblings Gary Thomason and Janet Thomason; as well as Deb’s daughters; Christine (Tyler) Putnam, parents to Jaxon and Madison; and Erica (Jorgen) Hansen, parents to Jayli, Griffin, Braxton, and Magnolia. Six grandchildren in all, every one of whom could count on Papa for a golf lesson, a bad joke, or if the day was going really well, both at once, followed by a wink.

Allen will be remembered for the life he built, the career he dedicated himself to, the love he had for a good golf game, his good humor and loyalty. He will be deeply missed by the family he embraced as his own and the individuals who were fortunate to call him a friend or co-worker. His presence on the golf course will be impossible to replace but the memories he leaves behind will remain for years to come.

An open-house memorial will be held in his honor at the Fairway Grill on September 26, 2026, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in Evanston, Wyoming. Any family and friends that want to celebrate and remember Allen are welcome to stop by and enjoy some light refreshments with a root beer float, which was Allen’s favorite dessert in his final days.

A secondary celebration of life will be held on October 3, 2026 in Mesquite, Nevada at 3:00pm 1087 Lakeview Dr.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you go play 18 holes, and think of him, so he can enjoy it from wherever he's watching.
