Alan Howard Plummer

Alan Howard Plummer, 69, passed away on September 16, 2026, in Evanston, Wyoming. He was born on April 7, 1957, in Aberdeen, Washington.

Alan graduated from Culver City High School and spent his life creating memories, chasing beautiful places, loving deeply, and finding joy in the people and things that mattered most to him.

In 1991, Alan married his first wife, Melanie, whom he met while they were both working in the Tetons. Together, they welcomed three beautiful children: Elizabeth, Jeffrey, and Jessica. They spent 11 years living and raising their family in Oregon before returning to Wyoming-a place that always felt like home to Alan and where his heart truly belonged.

Alan loved his children more than words can express. He was the kind of dad who showed his love by always being there. He would drive hundreds of miles across the state, and at times even travel to other states from chasing music festivals, school activities, or important moments in their lives. No distance was ever too far when it came to being there for his kids. Their accomplishments, adventures, and happiness were a source of immense pride and joy for him.

While in Wyoming, Alan owned and operated his own restaurant for several years, where he became known for making some of the best stuffed burgers you could find. He took pride in his work and in bringing people together around good food.

Alan had a deep passion for photography and hiking, but above all, he loved the Tetons. Their mountains, beauty, and peacefulness held a special place in his heart and remained one of his favorite places on earth.

After their years in Wyoming, Alan and Melanie moved to Las Vegas, where they experienced and embraced city life for many years. In 2018, Alan and Melanie went their separate ways, but they remained connected through the family they had built together. Melanie eventually returned to Wyoming, and a few years later Alan followed, wanting to be close to his family and the place he had always considered home.

In October 2025, Alan married Jody Hansen, his longtime friend who had become his special person and partner in life. Their marriage was a beautiful celebration of the unwavering love they shared. Together, Alan and Jody found happiness in the simple moments-watching every Los Angeles Dodgers game they could, cooking together, dancing in the kitchen, and rocking out to music. Their love was filled with laughter, companionship, and the kind of everyday moments that become the most cherished memories.

Alan will be deeply missed by his three children, Jess Plummer, Jeff Plummer, and Liz Merritt; his four grandchildren, Cody, Tylee, Oakley, and Reilly Merritt; his wife, Jody Hansen; his sister, Nancy Phelan; and his first wife and co-parent, Melanie Plummer. He also leaves behind, his grand-fur babies: Clifford and Daisy (Jeff); Fleury, Goose and Mikko Catanen Plummer (Jess); and Mollie, Blackies and Fleury (Liz). He leaves behind a family who loved him, memories that will live on, and countless moments that will forever bring smiles and stories.

Alan was preceded in death by his beloved best friend and forever faithful companion, his dog Harley.

Per Alan's wishes, cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, Alan's family asks that you make that phone call. Send that message. Reach out to the person who has been on your mind. You never know when it will be the last time you get to hear their voice, share a laugh, or tell them you love them.

Alan's love for his family, his appreciation for life's adventures, his passion for the Tetons, and his ability to find joy in the little things will remain part of his family's memories forever.
