With the deepest level of sorrow we announce the passing of Aaliyah Marie Martin. Our sweet girl was only 18 years old. She tragically passed away on September 13, 2025. Aaliyah was taken from us far too soon. Our beautiful girl leaves behind an amazing legacy of love, strength, and inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Aaliyah was born April 3 2007. Aaliyah had an infectious personality; she carried a bright bubbly personality with a smile that would captivate a room, and whose laughter was contagious. Aaliyah was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Aaliyah was beloved by her family and admired by all she came in contact with.
Aaliyah’s passion and determination were visible in every part of her life. She was an exemplary academic and a standout athlete and a dedicated wrestler. Her hard work and perseverance earned her recognition across the mat. She was a regional finalist her sophomore year and state runner up both her junior and senior year of high school. Most recently she had signed to continue her wrestling and academic career with William Penn University. Aaliyah was eager to become the best in her weight class, and represent her wrestling team with the same grit and grace that defined her high school years.
Beyond her athletic achievements Aaliyah aspired to be a nurse so she could help people. Aaliyah was known for her kind heart, uplifting personality and unwavering support for others. She loved her family deeply, cherished her friendships, and was always the person others turned toward for encouragement and laughter.
Aaliyah is survived by her mother Shantell Martin, her step father Chase Steinke, her father Kevin Rucker, her siblings Georgia, Van, Andre, and Paisley. As well as numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins that all loved her dearly. Aaliyah will forever be in their hearts. Though her time with us was far too short, her memory will live on forever in the lives she touched and the inspiration she gave to all.
A celebration of Aaliyah’s life will be held on Saturday September 27, 2025 @ 1:00 p.m at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 127 N. Main Street, Lyman, Wyoming 82937. The family kindly asks attendees to wear purple in remembrance of Aaliyah.
Her strength, her smile, and her spirt will never be forgotten. Fly high sweet girl. You will always be our champion.
